Self Driving

Self Driving

UK and international driver’s licences are accepted in Botswana for a maximum of 90 days.

Self driving in Botswana is not for the faint hearted and all national parks and Game reserves require rugged 4 wheel drive vehicles with high clearance. Should guests be entering these areas, it is important to ensure that vehicles have spare tyres/ additional fuel reserves/ and suitable equipment required such as shovels, tow ropes etc. Many Carhire companies will offer GPS and Satellite navigation systems and satellite phones.’

Note: Campsites within the National parks and Game reserves are not fenced. Wildlife is free to roam through the campsites day and night.

Both Wildlife and Livestock freely roam the main roads throughout Botswana, driving at dusk/dawn and at night is not recommended.
